Sabarimala temple opens for chingom month pooja 2014 on August 16

Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa temple will open for the 5 day monthly poojas of Chingom, the first month of Malayalam new year on August 16 at 5:30 PM. The temple will be closed on August 21 at 10:30 PM after Athazhapooja and Harivarasanam. Special rituals like padi pooja, udhayashtamanna pooja will be conducted in the temple in association with the daily poojas from 17- 21 August. The temple will be reopened for Thiruvonam poojas on September 5 at 5:30 PM. Kandararu Rajeevararu will take over as tantri of Sabarimala lord Ayyappa temple, for the next one year, on Chingom one. Singer P.Jayachandran will be awarded Harivarasanam award on 17 August 2014 at 7:00 AM by Devaswom minister V.S.Shivakumar. The venue will be Sabarimala Sreedharmasastha auditorium.

Makara Jyoti (Light of Capricorn) – Sabarimala Makaravilakku Festival on 15th January 2016 – Millions of pilgrims are expected to witness the famous Sabarimala Makaravilakku at the Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple in Kerala, India. Makaravilaku – Makara Jyothi marks the end of the Sabarimala Mandala Pooja pilgrimage season. According to the traditional Malayalam panchangam and Vedic astrology, the Makaravilakku pooja will take place at 6:44 PM in the evening.
